The Hard-Ons With Neil Hamburger: American Exports

neilhardonsAmerica’s Funnyman Neil Hamburger teams up with Australia’s punk rockers the Hard-Ons for a four song calibration Out on Red Lounge Records. What exactly is this is probably your first question. While some of you may think the most obvious thing would be kind of a split record with the Hard-Ons doing some punk rock gems on one side with some Neil Hamburger zingers on the other. No, Neil goes balls to the walls head first into this team up. The Hard-Ons provide a background of thundering guitars and shredding greatness while Neil provides vocals that only he can “American Exports” and “Committed To Suicide” makes you wish there was a tour for this record because this out of controlness would be amazing to see live and in person. And that’s just the A side. Side B features more of a popper tune from the team; once again the Hard-Ons provide the musical backdrop for Neil’s words that make you wish this were a full length record instead of just a four song 7″. “Young Punks” is a pop classic that covers the grizzled veterans of punk rock to the new kids to the scene, for my money this is the crown jewel of the record. The last tune on here is a real treat; we’ve got a cover song for all kids out there. Neil Hamburger and The Hard-Ons send us off with their version of Black Flag’s “Six Pack”, Neil Hamburger is totally out of control on this one, and you can practically visualize him running around the room, if he did that type of thing. There are a couple line changes on this one, but they are indeed great. Oh and lets not forget the covering for this wonderful record. The front cover is a rip-off Black Flag Six Pack single cover complete with a hamburger bun Black Flag bars. If you haven’t gotten your grubby little hands on this one yet make sure you put forth an effort because there were only five hundred made. One hundred on Red and four hundred on black, all of these coming from German label Red Lounge Records they might not be the easiest thing to come across.
